Vest's Bests

It's been a while...and I really just like to look at everyone else's blog instead of posting my own. But a few things have happened recently so I actually have an excuse to blog! All of these probably deserve their own post.. but I'm a working woman and full time wife! You all get the readers digest version.
  • We went on vacation to Mexico! Ensenada...not that great. But it was a cruise, which I'm a fan of. And of which Mitch is definitely a fan of (all you can eat food at all hours of every day?! yes please!) AND it was my first time to Mexico, which was an experience in itself. Except after just two hours of being heckled by all the citizens, I was getting irritated with the country. And all the little kids trying to sell us gum broke my heart. I wanted to tell them they should be in SCHOOL in front of their parents. But..I didn't. I saw some sun, which is really all I want these days. And we got to go with Lisa and Kevin! SO FUN. We decided to make it a yearly tradition. And can I just say... one night when we were all eating dinner I thought back to that day senior year in English class when Lisa convinced me we should go to college at BYU.. and here we were just six years later, married to some pretty cool guys if I do say so myself, and on a cruise together. Oh how time flies. And oh how wonderful things have worked out.

  • My car broke down, again. And I was in tears over all the money we have already put into it and all the money we were going to have to. So Mitch picked me up, dried my tears, and took me car shopping. One day a lemon, the next day lemonade. And this is the best part, ZERO buyers remorse, and we fall in love with it more and more every day. WHY DIDN'T WE DO THIS A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS AGO?! I was glad to be rid of my old car, and I not-so-secretly wanted to push it off a cliff in revenge for the awful time it gave me in the 1 year I had it.
  • I'm training to run a half marathon! Rational: 5k's are a cinch--I did them allll the time in HS for cross-country. So I wasn't going to pay $30 to do something not so hard and not so accomplishing. Marathons are scary and overwhelming and crazy. So I snuggled myself right up in the middle and decided to do a half. And I'm so stoked!! I've got a training schedule all set, the running gear, the perfect playlist, and the right weather. My race day is June 11. "Let's do this b..." as my sister would say.
  • Mitch got a promotion at work and Mal got a pay raise, for being awesome. Just kidding, but seriously. Mitch has almost completely decided on starting a side business of translating. Chinese is really hard and Mitch is really good. Why not?! A website coming soon.. Hopefully it will be up and coming when he gets a little more time.
  • I decided what I'm going to do with my life. We're putting baby-mania on the back burner and I'm going back to school. To be.. da da da! An ultrasound technician. Woo! This is coming from a girl who said she would never go back to school. Teaching is okay, but I figured out that I'm not very passionate about it. And that is a job you definitely need to be excited about. It was always more of a "yeah..I could do that. I like kids." This new life plan is a two year program and since I already have a degree, I get to skip all the prereq's and the year of clinicals afterward. Two years and one test later..I'm making twice as much as a teacher would, with wayyyy less hours. Done. Deal. Plus, it's fascinating.
  • I never blogged about my sewing! HELLO! With my super new and super cool sewing machine. I've made a few things.. my favorite are the baby bibs. A wonderful nurse I work with gave me a pattern, and it's adorable and simple. I also bought a pattern for baby booties. LOOOVE it! I can't wait to actually have a baby so I can do something with all these things I'm making.
  • Sarah and Michael moved, and it wasn't back to CA. Phew, crisis averted. I would not be a happy camper if they left us. We helped them move yesterday, and their new place is awesome!
That's about all I've got.Consider yourself updated on the Vest's bests<3
